During the
day I was able to run the electrical for the dishwasher, as well as take some
measurements for the placement of the outlets we’re hoping to put in the peninsula.
What seemed simple enough became something very different once David came home.
Basically, we have yet to gather enough information about counter top, bar top,
and backsplash widths to finalize any decisions. A lot of ideas were thrown
around, but at the end of the day we don’t have much to back it on. The counter
tops are something we haven’t ordered yet or even done much research about. It’s
on a list of things to do ;o)
After we
agreed to go ahead with extending the duct work, Paul returned tonight to help lay
out for us where we can assist him to pinch a few pennies on our part :o) He
marked the spots where David will cut holes to prep for the air return vents to
be installed, as well as removing some paneling so he has access to cut a hole
to lead to the AC unit outside. We’ll drill the holes for the electrical to be
run with wire he left for us. We’ll also clear out the downstairs coat closet,
where the furnace will be located, remove the shelves and carpet, and take out
the small ceiling for the duct to go. Lastly, we’ll clear out some closet space
upstairs where he’ll be working. They’re small things that we can easily do that
help move along his process. He also came with good news! Since he couldn’t
help but notice the state of our house and the good guy that he is, he was able
to move around some other jobs and put ours at the top of the list. So instead
of it taking a month to complete, he’s estimating one week!! He’ll be back on
Monday to start work!!
While Paul was doing
his thang, David and I were able to finish wiring the recessed lights together.
I planned to do it during the day but because of some questions David had about
the fixtures, I decided to wait until he came home to initiate that project. It
ended up being good that I waited because David ended up changing the layout he
designed earlier a smidge to save some length of wire. With the lights all
connected the next step will be adding the wire for the 3-way connections.
