The day
started off not too bad, however by the end of the night I was feeling like
poop. Just a cold, but it surprisingly takes more out of you than you’d like
when you’re in the middle of a big project. I was able to continue with our
prep for Paul by moving all our stuff out from the bottoms of our bedroom
closets. Part of the soffit will run the back side of the closet and part of
our room. It’s not really a loss considering with the A-frame it was space we
never really used. The other part of the soffit is going in the loft so I
shifted the futon around to make space for Paul and his partner to work. David
had confirmed with Paul that the wiring was indeed wrong, so I took it, wrapped
it around the spool, and set it out for one of the guys to pick up.
David came
home and diligently got to cleaning up his mess from the day before. Nothing a
shop vac couldn’t handle. After he finished we now had a comfortable path to
the upstairs :o) David then went onto installing the electrical boxes in the
peninsula. Since we want the boxes to be centered on the backsplash, and we
didn’t measure/cut correctly for the height, David had to cut a chunk out of
the top beam. He managed to pull out another tool I had never seen but seemed
to do the trick, along with covering him with saw dust. Such a cutie. The box
had to come out more than normal to clear the thickness of the backsplash, because
of that he had to attach a beam below the box to help support it and to have
something to screw into.
Once the
boxes were installed, he went onto the electrical in the mudroom. With the preexisting
switches and wiring, he was really trying not to take out the walls, but it was
inevitable. The space was simply too small and too tight not to. He cracked
open a small section and worked within that space for a bit until he had to
call it a night. With the weekend here I’m assuming much will be completed by
the end of it.
