Day 21 March 7

David continues to support my claim that he just likes to tear stuff apart after coming home tonight from training. I’ll get to that later. Today, I got to work on some of the prep for Paul. I removed the contents of the coat closet, took out the carpet, and pounded through the ceiling. I then drilled the holes for the electrical and ran the two wires from the circuit breaker in the mudroom to the closet. Come to find once David came home that one of the lines might be the wrong one. David’s on the task of confirming with Paul if it should come out and be replaced or it’s the right stuff.

I left for my weekly training to David removing the paneling on the wall where Paul will be drilling to the outside. We both figured that’s all it would be and he’d call it a nights work. HA! We’ve to find being the homeowners of an existing house where the quality of the construction is covered by drywall that when it comes to opening it up you are faced with many surprises. And these aren’t the fun surprises, but more like “WTF were they thinking?” surprises. David’s hypothesis is that the roof run-off was built incorrectly to allow water to seep in when he opened the wall and the length of the baseboards were completely rooted out to the point of crumbling. He called it a night to a pile of rubble he had accumulated, and would consider his options tomorrow. So the picture below is my surprise that I came home to. One of these days maybe there actually will be a bottle of wine and candles lit, as for now, I’d expect nothing less than drywall and insulation removed from yet another wall.
